Norway's diplomatic relations with the Republic of Moldova date back from June 1992. In March 1993 the Norwegian embassy in Bucharest was officially accredited to the country. There is no permanent Norwegian diplomatic mission in Chisinau. All bilateral affaires are handled through the embassy in Bucharest.
There are only a few Norwegians living in the Republic of Moldova. So far, the bilateral business cooperation has been limited, but you will find Norwegian participation in humanitarian work of different kind. The embassy visits Moldova on a regular basis to follow the general political and economic progress of the country and to manage the Norwegian project cooperation funds that are available.
