The Call Center was launched within the “Building Institutional Capacity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration” project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Moldova, with the financial support of the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA). The launching event was attended by representatives of the beneficiary state, among others by Mr. Iurie Leanca, the minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, by Mrs. Kaarina Immonen, UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova, by Mrs. Elisabeth Walaas, State Secretary within the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as by H.E. Mr. Øystein Hovdkinn, Norwegian ambassador to Chisinau, residing in Bucharest.
This service will meet the citizens’ needs in obtaining immediate and accurate information on consular affairs, saving them time and money they would use in travelling sometimes hundreds of kilometres to reach an embassy or a consulate. Thus, the Call Center operators will provide timely information on how emergency travel document or temporary passports can be obtained, what documents must be legalized and for what states, what to do when the international passport is lost, how to proceed when someone from acquaintances disappeared or died abroad, what are the consular taxes etc.
