On March 23rd, representatives from the Norwegian Embassy met with the children in the Day Centre for Children in Aleea Livezilor in Sector 5 of Bucharest established by Komunitas Association in the project “Closer to Future”. The project is supported through a grant of EUR 13.500 by the EEA NGO Fund which is funded by Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
90 children from different schools in Sector 5 participate. The results will be presented by their creators at the City Hall of the sector as well as to students of sociology. . “What would Bucharest look like if children could decide?”
This is the question that pupils involved in the “Closer to Future” project answer during their weekly urbanism lessons. The children’s models will be shown to the students in the Faculty of Sociology in Bucharest and to the decision makers of District 5 at the beginning of April.
A part of the project is also for the pupils to explore and learn about the social urban history of Bucharest, and to visit central areas of their city and other cities. They will make their own visitors’ ‘must sees’ in their city, based on their own encounters.
