Key reasons for this are that Supras has been reliably informed by colleagues and partners that the company registration process in Romania is rather bureaucratic, long-drawn and complicated. As things go, these facts are relevant in themselves, but tend to become more so in relative terms, that is, in comparison with the situation in other countries. Bulgaria provides a good example in this respect, in that the registration process is easier. As well, the situation with regards to taxation in Bulgaria is at the present time quite favorable. Accordingly, a new company, Supras Ltd, was recently registered in Varna, Bulgaria. This company will serve also Romania, until such time as it becomes feasible to establish a presence here.

Supras Consult Ltd (Norway UK) and Supras Ltd (Bulgaria) will jointly embark upon a new and unique program on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). A concept and an idea that has been around for a number of years, CSR has recently acquired new interest and received a boost in the private and public sectors, as well as in civil society, with the publication in late 2010 of the ISO 26000 on CSR. The two companies aim to contribute to a successful implementation of the ISO 26000 in Bulgaria and Romania and beyond.
Supras will achieve this through a broad approach that includes advisory services to companies to help with their internal CSR work and responsibilities; capacity building, research, knowledge and information dissemination. Specifically, the companies will provide advice in connection with developing and implementing CSR policies and -plans, establish goals and acceptability criteria, identification of relevant national and international expectations and guidelines, organize and manage CRS work internally, and document and report the systematic CSR work (e.g., in relation to the Global Reporting Index). Furthermore, the companies will provide trainings on CSR addressed specifically to the private sector. An NGO to be established will work in tandem with these activities, and focus specifically on dissemination and knowledge management related to CSR in Bulgaria and Romania, as well as neighboring countries. Being Norwegian companies, Supras Consult Ltd and Supras Ltd are in a unique position to serve other Norwegian and Scandinavian companies operating in Romania. In order to deliver trainings that are targeted and useful for the participants, the companies are interested in learning from fellow NORTEAM member companies about the challenges that they face under the domain of CSR.
