Nordic - Romanian business meeting

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Bucharest together with Invest Romania hosted a Nordic – Romanian business and match-making event on September 13. The theme of the event was building partnerships, in the context of the Romanian and Norwegian current business outlook.

Tove Bruvik Westberg, Ambassador of Norway to Romania, started the session by giving her remarks on the already good cooperation among the Nordic embassies and businesses and the Romanian counterparts. She also underlined that there is a potential of further development and interaction between companies in the Nordics and Romania.

Mr. Kjell Arne Nielsen, Director of Innovation Norway's office in Warsaw, gave an interesting speech on the importance of building lasting partnerships, while pointing out the overlapping of several areas of interest, for both Nordic and Romanian companies. The last part of his speech was dedicated to how the Nordics investors see the Romanian market, its large potential, but also its need to better stand out in the region.

Interesting aspects about the Romanian current business outlook and the incentives offered by the Romanian Government were presented by representatives of Invest Romania. Secretary of State Manuel Costescu offered a brief and conclusive overview of the investment climate in Romania, highlighting the areas within priority.

The participants learned about the opportunities within the Romanian Automotive,  IT&C, and Aerospace industry, presented by Project Manager in Invest Romania, Mr. Alexandru Mitroi.

The business meeting ended with the success story of Industrial Park Ploiesti West Park, held by Mr. Christopher Stroobant. This cluster park has managed to attract several international firms and stands out as a shining example of what foreigners can achieve in Romania.

A follow up of this event will take place on 13-14 of October, in the form of a meeting between Norwegian and Romanian businesses and seminar within Green Industry Innovation Programme Romania.
